Following the easing of travel restrictions throughout Europe, Air Canada, Emirates, Etihad, Lufthansa, Qatar Airways, Delta Air Lines, and United Airlines are back in the list of airlines landing at Munich Airport, a press release confirmed. 

Munich Airport has also welcomed the return of Egyptair and Tunis Air in its flight plan. The airport now serves flights to 14 non-European destinations in its network, including Cairo and Tunis, along with two destinations in Canada, six in the US, three in the Arabian Gulf, and three in Asia. 

The airline said that since early August, 45 airlines already connect Munich with 140 destinations, including 13 destinations in Germany, 18 destinations in Greece, 15 in Spain, 13 in Italy, 9 in Turkey, 7 in France, 5 in Croatia, 4 in Portugal, and 3 in Bulgaria. 

The number of weekly departures in August has now reached 1,100 take-offs. 

As Lufthansa ramps up its operations, traffic is expected to increase, with one in three passengers using Munich as a transfer airport again, the release added. 

The airport said that this shows peoples’ desire to travel again after the lockdown. To keep passengers and employees safe, Munich Airport has imposed a mask mandate as well as social distancing and hygiene rules for extensive infection protection.
