Over the last 15 years, Emirates SkyCargo, has gradually scaled up from a modest offline carrier to operating multiple daily cargo flights from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
With the growth of the manufacturing industry in Vietnam over the last decade, Emirates SkyCargo has played an important role in the transport and distribution of high-tech consumer items, fashion and sportswear manufactured in the country.
The air cargo carrier has also contributed to export trade of perishables and fresh produce from the Southeast Asian nation.
The cargo carrier’s routine was simple since its entry in 2005. Exports from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh were carried to other points in Asia, including Bangkok, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur, and then uplifted on Emirates flights to Dubai and other markets.
In tandem with the rapid growth of Vietnam’s manufacturing and perishables export sectors, Emirates SkyCargo progressively started direct flights to the country in 2012.
During the pandemic, Emirates SkyCargo has stepped up connectivity to Vietnam, deploying additional scheduled and charter flights to both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, to transport not just agricultural exports but also medical supplies.
With most of the world switching to remote working and e-learning, the manufacturing sector in Vietnam has seen more demand for electronic devices, and the cargo carrier said it will play a key role in the success of new product launches.
Emirates SkyCargo currently operates 10 scheduled flights per week to Hanoi and 6 flights per week to Ho Chi Minh City, alongside charter flight options. The airline also offers full freighter, belly hold and cabin loading capacity options to and from Vietnam.
