IAG Cargo is adding back five African routes to its network, including Lagos, Cairo, Cape Town, Abuja and Accra, which is expected to support trade in the region.
The cargo carrier will continue operating daily services to Johannesburg and four weekly flights to Nairobi.
For the new routes, the cargo carrier will run daily cargo flights using wide-body 777 and 787 aircraft to and from London Heathrow.
IAG Cargo said restarting these African routes would offer a logistics solution to import much needed pharmaceutical and medical cargo.
These also serve as a vital link for exporters of automotive products, electronics, machinery and perishables like tropical fruits.
IAG Cargo safely transports around 25,000 tonnes of perishables annually out of Africa through its Constant Fresh product.
