ABC delivers Moscow museum artworks to Hong Kong

Onboard ABC’s B747-8F, the museum art pieces were loaded into wooden climate-controlled crates, complete with shock sensors to ensure cargo integrity during the flight.

AirBridgeCargo Airlines (АВС) delivered over 200 museum exhibits onboard its regular Boeing 747-8F flights from Moscow to Hong Kong, in cooperation with ART-Сourier.

The special cargo contained museum valuables from the Moscow Kremlin Museums’ collection which will be part of an upcoming exhibit featuring Ivan the Terrible and his successors as Tsar of Russia.

The exhibit, which will run from 29 May until August 21 in Hong Kong, will show museum pieces dating back to the 16th and 18th centuries which rarely leave the Russian museum collections, the airline noted.

‘We are proud to be part of the international exhibition projects, especially now when we are slowly coming back to normal life and see the revival of cultural projects which had previously been suspended,” said Nikolay Glushnev, general director of AirBridgeCargo.

“Our gained experience and expertise, competence in the transportation of art pieces, aligned relations with reliable partners, such as ART-Courier, enable us to deliver valuable cargo worldwide – from artwork to jewellery and beyond,” he added.

The cargo airline said the successful delivery of artwork relies on proper packaging solutions. For the long flight from Moscow to Hong Kong, it chose wooden climate-controlled crates to meet the museums’ requirements for safe transportation, complete with shock sensors to guarantee cargo integrity and intactness during the flight. The crates were produced from non-toxic and acid-free materials without possible negative effects on the art pieces, the carrier added.

For more than 15 years, AirBridgeCargo has been offering services for transportation of various types of cargo including delicate ones such as artworks. The company has previously delivered paintings for famous museums, international exhibitions and private collections.
