Paris, France: Bolloré Logistics’ new pharma unit at CDG hub
Bolloré Logistics is reinforcing its logistics resources for healthcare with an 800-sqm extension of a pharmaceutical unit at its hub in Roissy AIrport (CDG). With the new unit, the company will now have 2,200 sqm at CDG with three temperature-controlled areas. These facilities are reserved exclusively for processing healthcare product shipments and GDP compliant, with dedicated dock doors. The new extension has a racked area with a 550-pallet capacity and a mass storage area.
Dubai: Emirates, Rickenbacker celebrate milestone
On 1 April, Emirates operated the 500th cargo-only passenger flight serviced by Rickenbacker Airport (LCK), marking a significant milestone between the Dubai-based carrier and US airport. This was followed by the 501st passenger freighter flight, EK 9909, two hours later. Both flights, operated by B777-300ER mini-freighters, transported PPE and other essential cargo. Over the last 10 months, Emirates has operated more than 200 passenger cargo flights to LCK.
Ireland: SEKO Logistics strengthens partnerships with new Dublin facility
SEKO Logistics and Pelican BioThermal are targeting a bigger share of Ireland’s growing pharmaceutical market after extending their two-year partnership and increasing the number of units stationed in the country by 150 percent. With the opening of a new 30,000-sqft facility in Dublin, SEKO will now provide international logistics for Crēdo Cargo units and offer import, export and in-house customs brokerage services. The facility will also have a new refurbishment operation run by GDP-certified staff.
Tigerair Taiwan becomes new A320neo operator
China Airlines subsidiary Tigerair Taiwan has taken delivery of its first A320neo. This is the first of 15 A320neo Family aircraft to join the airline’s fleet and the first A320neo to be introduced in Taiwan. The aircraft has a range of up to 3,200 nm, enabling flights of up seven hours from Taipei. The carrier said this will be the optimal platform to increase capacity and open new routes across Asia. According to Airbus, the aircraft model has won nearly 7,400 firm orders from 120 customers worldwide as of end-March.
Dubai: Aramex introduces female-oriented Arabic on website
Logistics and transportation provider Aramex has launched a female Arabic language option for its corporate website. This language feature will directly address female visitors, in a step that hasn’t been implemented before for Arabic corporate websites. The launch of the additional language feature comes after Aramex pledged to add female focused language for Arabic on its website on International Women’s Day, 2021, through its social media channels with the hashtags #ChoosetoChallenge and #AddressHerCorrectly. The company said it will permanently offer this feature on its website.
Hounslow, UK: IAG Cargo marks 10-year anniversary
IAG Cargo celebrates its 10th anniversary this month, marking a decade of transporting vital shipments safely and efficiently for customers across the world. IAG Cargo was created following the merger of British Airways World Cargo and Iberia Cargo in 2011. Since then, it has become one of the largest cargo operators in the world, serving key sectors like ecommerce, tech, manufacturing, automotive, pharmaceutical and aerospace. In the last decade it is estimated that the carrier has served nearly 14,000 freight forwarders, operated 950,000 flights, transporting millions of tonnes of cargo worldwide using 30 models of aircraft.
Luxembourg: Vallair adds A330 aerostructure repair capabilities
Vallair has increased its MRO offering to include A330 aerostructure repair capabilities at its facility in Châteauroux, France. The facility is known for repairs of a variety of parts, including nacelles, inlet cowls, fan cowls, thrust reversers and flight controls. The company was awarded a 10-year lease for a new state-of-the-art aircraft maintenance, repair, overhaul and cargo conversion hangar adjacent to its existing aerostructures repair and logistics facility. This significant project in partnership with the Centre Val de Loire Region and the Chateauroux Airport Establishment further establishes Vallair’s MRO footprint in central France, and further complements its MRO & painting operations in Montpellier.
Riyadh: Saudia Cargo joins Unicef’s vaccine delivery mission
Saudia Cargo joins 10 leading airlines on Unicef’s initiative to support COVID-19 vaccine delivery, alongside related supplies to fight the pandemic. The initiative commits airlines to prioritize the shipment of all live-saving supplies, add freight capacity to routes whenever necessary, and take the important measures of temperature control and security. Current members of the initiative cover routes to over 100 countries on behalf of the COVAX Facility.
