Menzies Aviation has received its IATA certification to handle pharma products at its stations in Heathrow Airport (LHR) and Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport (BUD).
At Heathrow Airport, the ground handling specialist works with the likes of Qatar Airways, Air India and TAP Air Portugal. It logged average volume of 100,000 to 120,000 tonnes per annum and expects to see a significant increase in pharma volumes through its 10,000-sqm warehouse facility at LHR, which features temperature-controlled rooms built for the purpose.

Meanwhile at Budapest airport, Menzies works with Emirates, Aeroflot, Cargolux, and Finnair at its pharma-ready warehouse facility, which opened in 2020. The station, which can handle up to 50,000 tonnes each year, features ‘state-of-the-art cooling facility that is already equipped for pharma product handling.
The company said the latest certifications aim to boost its supply chain in Europe. It plans to get accredited at more locations across its global network.
The IATA CEIV Pharma accreditations at LHR and BUD follow the recent ones awarded to Menzies at its Sydney and Melbourne operations.
