UPS has announced the appointment of Chika Imakita as its managing director for Singapore and Malaysia, who will lead the company’s express delivery, logistics operations and strategic growth initiatives across both markets.
The former marketing director for south Asia Pacific joined UPS as an intern at the company’s global headquarters in Atlanta in 1999. She has since accumulated experience in international marketing, business planning, revenue management, pricing, product development, customer solutions, relationship management and communications in both Asia and the United States.
A driven and experienced logistics professional with over 20 years of industry and supply chain management experience, Imakita is also described as a keen environmentalist with a passion for driving sustainable change in the industry,
In her new role, Chika will look to step up UPS’ environmental, social and governance (ESG) initiatives in line with an ambitious set of targets laid out in its 2020 sustainability report.
UPS has already introduced electric vehicles into its delivery fleet in Singapore, with the aim of having over 40 percent of the fleet converted by 2026.
The company said it is also exploring various urban logistics solutions to complement cleaner modes of last-mile transportation and support the transition to zero-emission logistics.
