Lufthansa Cargo held a press conference last week as the German cargo airline opened its newest station in Hanoi. The carrier is adding the Vietnam destination to its global B777F route network for the winter flight schedule 2022/2023.
Lufthansa has been flying two weekly flights to Ho Chi Minh City. With the Hanoi service commencing on November 2 and 3, Lufthansa will now fly to Hanoi twice a week with Boeing 777F aircraft operated by AeroLogic.
With the new service, the cargo airline is doubling its capacity to Vietnam with a regular cargo capacity of 250 tonnes each week. It will be the lone carrier to connect Hanoi with Lufthansa’s hub in Frankfurt. The airport allows numerous connections by air and road feeder services within Europe and its wider global network.
Lufthansa said Vietnam has gained significant importance and records an increasing high export volume, including to Europe. “Accordingly, the demand for air freight transportation is high. In particular, electronics, automotive parts and clothing are among the most frequently flown goods from Hanoi,” the airline said.
All freighter services to Vietnam are operated by AeroLogic with Boeing 777F aircraft. The joint venture between DHL Express and Lufthansa Cargo operates five out of Lufthansa’s long-haul cargo fleet of 16 Boeing 777F aircraft. Each aircraft has a cargo capacity up to 103 tonnes, allocated to 27 container positions on the main deck and ten standard pallets on the lower deck, and has a range of 9,045 km.
