Cargo drone developer Dronamics is making preparations to strengthen its presence in the Asia Pacific as it appointed Gavin Gomes as general manager for Australia and as member of the senior management team, effective 1 August.
Gavin’s track record spans several sectors including startups, private companies, listed entities, and global multinationals like Canon, Australia Post, Telstra, and IBM. A certified pilot, he also serves as a non-executive director of Royal Victorian Aero Club and CM Pacific Pty Ltd.
Dronamics has had a presence in Australia since 2020. In 2022, it received approval to conduct experimental test flights with a sub-scale prototype of its flagship aircraft, the remotely piloted Black Swan. That same year, It signed a manufacturing agreement with Quickstep Holdings Limited, an independent aerospace composite business in Australia, to help scale up production and meet the growing demand for its cargo mobility services.
Dronamics is confident its long-range, high-payload cargo drone operations can be a game-changer for industries including perishables, mail, pharma, e-commerce and mining.
“Australia has demonstrated an enormous appetite for what Dronamics can offer – faster, more affordable, lower emissions freight, connecting underserved and remote communities and businesses through cargo drone logistics. We are committed to serving the needs of the local market and we are thrilled to have Gavin’s experience and expertise to support that,’’ said Svilen Rangelov, cofounder and CEO of Dronamics.
