Hactl is set to introduce an intelligent thermal detection system for cargo that could further enhance the reliability, safety, and service levels in Hong Kong’s air cargo industry.
The cargo handler is working with Aerovision Technology Limited (ATL) and has signed an agreement to install ATL’s patented system at suitable locations within Hactl’s SuperTerminal 1.
This innovation, which combines thermal imaging technology, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, data analytics, and artificial intelligence, can monitor the temperature of cargo and quickly identify any abnormal conditions, triggering alerts.
Aside from stakeholder losses, this can prevent potential fire hazards and reducerisks, particularly those posed by lithium battery incidents. Hactl claims it is the first carto terminal to pioneer such technology, and as part of the deal, ATL will provide comprehensive customised services, including system design, supply, installation, commissioning, training, and maintenance support.
