FedEx Express opened its new regional headquarters in Singapore on 27 February last week, which will house the support team for its operations in Asia Pacific, Middle East, and Africa.
The strategic move of transferring its headquarters from Hong Kong to the city state marks a new beginning for the company, which promises to connect businesses in the region with ‘greater speed and agility,’ said Kawal Preet, president of Asia Pacific, Middle East, and Africa.
The express operator has been present in Singapore for 40 years and has already established its South Pacific hub and specialist cold chain facility in the city state. It also has a data analytics centre and regional security operations centre in the city.
The new regional headquarters, situated at Centennial Tower, spans 2,694 square meters and prioritises sustainability, FedEx noted, incorporating green-certified renovation products and energy-efficient electrical fixtures and automatic lighting controls to reduce power consumption.
The transfer of headquarters was announced as early as May last year, and FedEx said it will continue to actively collaborate with local authorities to boost logistics capabilities, I will also directly invest in regional networks and share industrial expertise and technology to elevate logistics operations standards.
