In a speech at today’s official launch, Fraport AG executive board chairman Wilhelm Bender stressed that the Xi’an participation was an essential building block in Fraport’s international expansion. He said Fraport was convinced of the sustainable development potential of China’s aviation market and confirmed that the company was currently negotiating other projects in China.
In a statement, Fraport suggested that because of its central geographic location, Xi’an Airport had the potential to develop into a regional hub over the next few years. “In cooperation with local partners and authorities, Fraport will focus on developing this potential. In particular, establishing more international air routes is a priority, as well as developing retail and real estate business at the airport.
