Heavy lift cargo specialist Volga-Dnepr is considering modifying its An-124 freighters to enable the giant cargo aircraft to ferry large assembled aircraft parts around the world as demand for this specialist service grows as the aircraft manufacturing industry becomes increasingly globalised. Currently, V-D’s10 An-124s are used to move outsize cargo of all kinds around the world, but a shift into this new area would require significant structural changes to the aircraft including changing the shape of the aircraft to increase cargo floor spaceby two square metres.
