After extending the live animal facility with new horse stalls allowing simultaneous acceptance of 50 horses last May, LuxairCARGO, the ground hander at Luxembourg Findel Airport has continued to support and protect the special products handling with the completion in early June, of a new DGR area.

With a capacity of 75,000 tonnes per year (actual tonnage averages 50,000 tonnes per year), 1,000 sqm of dedicated sprinkled storage area and shelters, all DGR classes including radioactive and fully IATA compliant with a specialised and licenced staff.

“The increasing number of DGR (and CAO) shipments, the support to our full cargo customers as well as, the security and safety requirements were the prime motivations of the investment,” said the handler.

It continued: “2015 is an important year of preparation for the future, Live Animals, DGR and works have started for an extension of the Big & Heavy centre, another special product for the main deck carriers.
