Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK) has become the sole shareholder of AsiaWorld-Expo (AWE) after the government transferred its entire interests in the conference facility, a press release announced last week.
The airport group said it is moving forward with phase 2 development of the AsiaWorld-Expo which will see Hong Kong’s largest indoor arena for events and conferences upon completion. The Phase 2 expansion will increase the total exhibition space to 100,000 square metres, with over 20,000 seats and state-of-the-art facilities.
AsiaWorld-Expo is considered a prime venue in Hong Kong for business conferences, live events and industry summit. Before the transfer of interests, the Hong Kong government and AAHK jointly owned AWE. The latter acquired ownership of the company that manages and operates the well-renowned convention centre in 2018.
