Kerry Logistics has opened the first phase of its new logistics centre in Danang in Central Vietnam. The facility will provide a total of 9,000 sq m of space when completed in the second half of 2010. The new facility will add to Kerry Logistics’ 62,500 sq m facility in Ho Chi Minh City and a 10,300 sq m facility in Hanoi providing complete coverage in North, Central and South Vietnam. Kerry Logistics was the first foreign company to own and operate logistics facilities inVietnam.

“We have been operating in Vietnam as a wholly-owned foreign company since 2006 and we have a comprehensive network of distribution centres and integrated logistics facilities in the major commercial centres throughout the country,” said Robert Tan, managing director, South Asia.

“Vietnam has a vibrant economy and there is strong growth in international trade. Consumer demand for imported products is also growing and our investment in a nationwide distribution network will support this growth. From a regional point of view Danang will support our growth across South East Asia” Tan said.

Kerry Logistics said it is also a pioneer in building the first ASEAN cross border trucking service, through Kerry Asia Road Transport (KART), its services connect Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia, providing a door-to-door service throughout the region. KART connects Vietnam to all South East Asian countries and also several destinations in China.

In China, Kerry Logistics has built a nationwide transport and logistics platform which connects with the KART network through its Kunming transporthub in China’s South West.
