United operates daily services ex-Melbourne via Sydney to Los Angeles and double daily ex-Sydney to San Francisco in the USA. The services use B747-400 equipment. AUSTRALIA: Canberra rejects claim of non-inspected cargo
The Australian government has rejected claims that cargo is being loaded onto passenger planes without inspection. Federal Transport Minister Mark Vaile said the government has implemented most of the recommendations made byaviation expert Sir John Wheeler. The 2005 Wheeler report said cargo baggage on domestic and international passenger fl ights should be checked for explosives and contraband. INDONESIA: Garuda mulls relaunch of int’l routes
Indonesia's flag carrier, Garuda Indonesia, is considering reopening routes to Amsterdam and Nagoya, in Japan and starting a new service to India next year, The Jakarta Post reported quoting a company spokesman."We terminated our service to Amsterdam at the end of 2004 because it wasn't competitive and was losing money.
