Airbus, owned by Franco German EADS, is to double the amount of vendor financing it offers to about US$2.64 billion next year, the Financial Times reported. Following earlier trials with Boeing, Airbus and Pratt & Whitney (P&W) have commenced a series of flight tests to evaluate the ‘PurePower’ PW1000G technology demonstrator engine which features P&W’s patented ‘Geared Turbofan’ (GTF) architecture. The tests are being performed at Airbus’ flight test facility using Airbus’ own A340 flight test aircraft and will run until the end of the year. Airbus will meet its target of delivering 12 A380 super jumbo aircraft this year, the company’s chief executive pledged recently, brushing aside reports that manufacturing and engineering difficulties had again put the project behind schedule. Americas: Boeing production still idle from ongoing strike
Boeing and the International Association of Machinists union appear far apart and unwilling to compromise to settle a strike, both sides indicate as the strike enters its second month.
