Scoot, the Singapore-based longhaul, low-cost division of Singapore Airlines, has added two new Asian cities to its route map: Osaka and Kaohsiung. Philippine air cargo up 9% in Q1
Total air cargo volumes uplifted by all Philippine flagged carriers in the first quarter of 2015 rose 9.4 per cent to 58,900 tonnes from 53,820 tonnes in the same period last year, according to the latest data from the country’s Civil Aeronautics Board. Cathay Pacific group sees flat cargo growth in June
Cathay Pacific Airways has released its combined Cathay Pacific and Dragonair traffic figures for June 2015 that show a marginal increase in the volume of cargo and mail along side a healthy rise in the number of passengers carried compared to the same month in 2014. Cathay Pacific and Dragonair carried 141,136 tonnes of cargo and mail last month, an increase of 0.5 per cent compared to June 2014. Bohai Leasing to take 20% stake in Avolon Holdings
China-based leasing company Bohai Leasing is to buy a 20 per cent stake in Ireland-based Avolon Holdings for US$429 million. A unit of China’s aviation and shipping conglomerate HNA Group, Bohai expects the offer to be formally launched by end-July following the approval of its shareholders. The transaction will provide HNA access to a global aircraft leasing market that is currently dominated by GE Capital and AerCap Holdings. Ningxia Cargo Airlines gets green light
The Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) has approved an air operator’s certificate for Ningxia Cargo Airlines, which is to become the first cargo carrier to be based in the west of the country, the Ningxia Autonomous Region. China to tap airport economic zone strategy
China will build model airport economic zones in pilot cities, the country’s aviation watchdog has announced according to Xinhua. The move is aimed at supporting the development of airports, a new engine for regional growth and industrial upgrading, according to a statement from the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC).
