In August 2015, Singapore Airlines Cargo registered a cargo load factor (CLF) 1.8 percentage points lower than the same period a year earlier as cargo traffic (measured in freight-tonnekilometres) declined 0.1 per cent to 520,300 FTK against capacity growth of 3.0 per cent. Korean Air has welcomed its fi rst B747-8 Intercontinental at a ceremony held at the Boeing Everett Delivery Centre in Seattle. With the addition of the B747- 8 Intercontinental to its fl eet, Korean Air became the fi rst airline in the world to operate both types of the B747-8. The Philippine’s largest carrier, Cebu Pacifi c, is set to launch three new routes including first international service from the southern Philippine city of Davao. Th e triple launch will take place on 17 December, when CEB commences services connecting Manila with Fukuoka, Cebu with Taipei and Davao with Singapore. In an effort to sustain profi tability, Philippine Airlines has announced that it will be laying off as many as 117 domestic ground crew beginning in November. In addition, the airline plans to cut costs further in other areas and limit spending in the coming year.
