IAG Cargo today announced its Q2 results from 1 April to 30 June 2015, reporting an 8.8 per cent increase in commercial revenue to €259 million versus the same period last year. IAG Cargo’s revenue growth comes during a period of network expansion, with a capacity increase of 2.1 per cent. Freight volume also dipped by 1.4 per cent to 214,000 tonnes. Swiss WorldCargo and Lufthansa Cargo have announced a rejigging of their pricing structure which will see overall pricing remaining the same. Opting not to take the all-in rate route that a number of airlines have moved to, Swiss and Lufthansa said that as of 25 October 2015 the pricing of both airlines will consist of two components: A net rate and an ‘Airfreight Surcharge’. Emirates has announced plans to launch services to Panama City (Tocumen International Airport (PTY)), beginning 1 February 2016. The new service will be the longest non-stop flight in the world (17 hours 35 minutes in the Westbound direction) and will be Emirates’ first gateway destination in Central America.
