Global cargo cartel fallout lands in Japan
Japan's Fair Trade Commission has notified more than 10 companies that they will be fined about ¥10 billion (US$103.2 million) for operating a cartel on international air cargo services. Air cargo volumes in Thailand slumped by almost 50 per cent in January as the global financial crisis continued to hurt exports. Total outbound cargo in the final three months of 2008 fell to 107,249 tonnes, compared with 140,074 tonnes a year earlier, Dow Jones reported. Kintetsu profit declines
Kintetsu World Express, Japan's second-largest international forwarder, said it suffered a drop in profit on a consolidated basis between April and December from a year earlier despite revenue growth.
