Ethiopian cargo terminal set for operation by April ‘17
Ethiopian Airlines Cargo Terminal, which is under construction currently, has reached 82 per cent completion and it is scheduled to be operation by April 2017, the African carrier said. The first phase of the Addis Ababa terminal cost around US$150 million, according to a report by Ethiopian News Agency. The terminal will have an capacity of 1.2 million tonnes of cargo including facilities for perishable goods. Oct a good month for cargo, up 6.2%: WorldACD
WorldACD has reported that the September YoY volume growth of around 5.0 per cent was eclipsed by the 6.2 per cent YoY growth in volumes in October. American and European carriers contributed most to the 3.0 per cent MoM growth in yields (in USD), a higher MoM growth for this month than in previous years. With that yield improvement, October was clearly a good month for air cargo, WorldACD noted. American Airlines Cargo benefits from B787-9 on int’l routes
American Airlines has launched its international B787-9 service between Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) and Madrid Barajas (MAD) in Spain, offering cargo customers up to 36 LD3 positions, or 12 pallets, depending on the market. The B787-9 is also currently operating from DFW to Sao Paulo (GRU) and, in January, will be added to the DFW-Paris (CDG) route. Vladimir Zubkov to be TIACA’s new secretary general
The International Air Cargo Association (TIACA) has announced its new secretary general, will be Vladimir Zubkov, replacing Doug Brittin, who retires at the end of the year. Zubkov has more than 40 years’ experience in the air transport industry, including senior roles with the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), and, most recently, as vice president of the Volga-Dnepr Group of Companies.
