DB Schenker’s profits halved in 2009
Full year 2009 results for DB Schenker Logistics - a division of state-owned German rail and logistics group Deutsche Bahn, saw revenue down by 23.4 per cent to €11.3 billion while EBIT fell by 49 per cent to €199 milloin. For the entire group, revenue fell to €29.3 billion, a drop of 12 per cent compared to 2008. EBIT, adjusted for exceptionals, fell by 32 per cent to €1.68 billion. Geodis buys e-commerce express carrier Ciblex
French logistics provider Geodis has acquired small parcel express carrier Ciblex. The move expands the range of services Geodis provides through a company that has grown with the explosion of e-commerce. Geodis said the acquisition would develop its technical expertise specific to parcel processing and improve its value-added services offering in the sectors of ecommerce, healthcare, optical, high tech and spare parts. Panalpina slips into red in 2009, cautious on 2010

DHL wins further BP retail contract in UK
DHL Supply Chain has been awarded a four-year contract worth £75 million (US$114.5 million) to manage the UK warehousing and distribution of dry goods and chilled produce for BP’s UK Convenience Retail business.
