AFRICA: Ethiopian signs freighter deal
Ethiopian Airlines has signed an agreement with Boeing Capital Corporation (BCC) for the purchase of an MD-11 freighter. The aircraft, which at the moment is in a passenger confi guration, will soon be converted to a freighter offering a capacity of 88 tonnes. It will be delivered to Ethiopian in January 2009. Ethiopian is also negotiating for a second converted MD-11 freighter on lease basis for delivery at the end of 2009. China and Bangladesh have agreed to promote bilateral economic relations with the intention to narrow the trade imbalance and also to encourage investment between the two countries, Xinhua News Agency reported. BA World Cargo (BAWC) said it will launch two new weekly Boeing 727 freighter services from Pakistan this month. The fi rst fl ight will be Karachi - Bahrain and the second will be Lahore - Bahrain.
