Aeroflot Cargo has been declared bankrupt after a ruling by the arbitration court of the Moscow region, completing a process that was begun in June last year when the shareholders of Aeroflot Cargo approved the decision to file for bankruptcy with the carrier’s losses estimated at US$140 million. Air Astana, the flag carrier of the Republic of Kazakhstan, has announced plans to expand its Central Asia hub in Almaty. New services will be launched to Urumchi in western China; Dushanbe, capital of Tajikistan and Tashkent, capital of Uzbekistan during the second half of 2010, the carrier said.
