Air Transport Services Group is extending its partnership with DHL Network Operations (USA) for its existing CMI agreement through ATSG subsidiaries Cargo Aircraft Management (CAM) and ABX Air. ABX Air to return four DHL-owned freighters
ABX Air, a subsidiary of Air Transport Services Group (ATSG), has received termination notices from DHL affecting four DHL-owned Boeing 767-200 freighter aircrafts that ABX Air leases and operates within the US. DHL sought bids to operate the aircraft from other vendors earlier this year. The notices are effective in late December 2014 for two aircraft, and in January 2015 for the two remaining aircraft. ABX parent may expand fleet
Wilmington, US-based Air Transport Services Group Inc. (ATSG) has said it may expand its fleet by acquiring three B767-300 aircraft. ATSG is the parent corporation for ABX Air whose biggest customer was DHL Express before the German express and logistics company decided to pull out of domestic operations after years of losses. Air, which sorts and carries packages for DHL, says it plans to lay off an additional 1,000 workers at its operation in western Ohio by the end of August, reducing the air carrier’s presence there to about 1,300 employees. DHL in talks with ABX and ASTAR in US
DHL has opened discussions with ABX Air and ASTAR Air Cargo about the possibility of taking over its domestic US operations out of Wilmington, according to an Associated Press report. Following the announcement last November by Deutsche Post, that its subsidiary DHL Express would shut down its US domestic package shipping operation it said it would hire United Parcel Service (UPS) to handle its US domestic volumes.
