Etihad Cargo adds third B747 from Atlas Air
Etihad Cargo has expanded its fleet of freighter aircraft with the placement of a third B747 freighter from Atlas Air Worldwide as part of a multi-year Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance and Insurance (ACMI) agreement. The 747-400 freighter is the third aircraft to be operated by Atlas Air on behalf of Etihad Cargo, and complements existing lease agreements previously signed by Etihad Cargo for B747 freighter aircraft in May 2012 and May 2013. Airwork orders seven AEI B737-400SF conversions
New Zealand-based Airwork has ordered two firm and five optional B737-400SF eleven pallet configuration passenger-to-freighter conversions from Aeronautical Engineers Inc. (AEI). Airwork will make the freighter aircraft available to its ACMI and dry lease customers. The first aircraft, built in 1992 has already been modified at Commercial Jet Services’ Dothan, Alabama facility and was successfully redelivered to Airwork on August 14th. Etihad Cargo has announced its first round-the-world freighter routing in conjunction with Atlas Air Worldwide. The jointly operated service began on 30 May 2013, connecting Etihad Cargo’s Abu Dhabi hub with destinations in Asia, the US, South America and Europe.
