The Airport Authority (AA) of Hong Kong is to call for the fi nal tenders from short-listed bidders for construction of the third cargo terminal by end of June,an offi cial said. Private Chinese air cargo carrier, Yangtze River Express Airlines, plans to strengthen its fl eet with the addition of eight to 10 B747-400 freighters and/or B777-300 freighters between 2008 and 2013, the airline’s president Huang Siang-sun says. While China Eastern Airlines is on the verge of selling a 25 percent stake to Singapore Airlines, Shanghai Airlines appears to be interested fi nding its own foreign investor, ATWOnline reported. CHINA: AC axes freighter fl ights to China
Air Canada said it is dropping its freighter operation into China. At the end of June, the Canadian carrier will return a leased MD-11 freighter to ACMI provider World Airways, terminating its all-cargo service between Shanghai and Toronto. SINGAPORE: NYK invests US$5m in Jett8 Airlines Cargo
NYK has invested US$5 million in Singapore-based Jett8 Airlines Cargo, following an agreement reached in February 2007. Under the terms of the February agreement, Jett8 would obtain an air operator’s certifi cate from the Singapore government, which it did on June 8, 2007, as well as the air traffi c rights required to operate the company’s scheduled international network.
