E-commerce giant Amazon looks to be taking steps to operate its own air freight service to compete with the likes of FedEx and UPS, with tests taking place out of DHL’s former US hub in Wilmington, Ohio. Air Transport Services Group has completed a new agreement that extends its support of DHL’s air cargo network in the US through at least March 2019. Principal elements of the new agreement include: Extended dry leases through March 2019 for the 13 Boeing 767 freighters currently leased to DHL for its US air network. ATSG reports strong 3Q results
Air Transport Services Group, a provider of medium wide-body aircraft leasing, air cargo transportation and related services, reported consolidated financial results for the quarter ended 30 September 2014. Pre-tax earnings from continuing operations increased 25 per cent to US$15.6 million driven by a US$7.0 million improvement in airline profitability compared with a year ago. ABX Air to return four DHL-owned freighters
ABX Air, a subsidiary of Air Transport Services Group (ATSG), has received termination notices from DHL affecting four DHL-owned Boeing 767-200 freighter aircrafts that ABX Air leases and operates within the US. DHL sought bids to operate the aircraft from other vendors earlier this year. The notices are effective in late December 2014 for two aircraft, and in January 2015 for the two remaining aircraft. ABX parent may expand fleet
Wilmington, US-based Air Transport Services Group Inc. (ATSG) has said it may expand its fleet by acquiring three B767-300 aircraft. ATSG is the parent corporation for ABX Air whose biggest customer was DHL Express before the German express and logistics company decided to pull out of domestic operations after years of losses.
