Japanese forwarder, Kintetsu World Express (KWE), has established its own warehousing company within the Xiamen bonded area in China's Fujian Province, which will target the logistics needs of electronic component makers. Menlo to buy Cougar Logistics
Menlo Worldwide said it will buy Cougar Logistics Corporation Ltd. for $33.9 million, including a $28.2 million cash payment to Cougar and the assumption of $5.7 million in debt. Cougar owns logistics operations in Singapore and Southeast Asia, and Menlo is the global logistics subsidiary of Con-way Inc. The gap in logistics know-how between China and the West remains large in management, training and IT applications, says Luo Kaifu, vice president of the International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations (FIATA).
