Qantas customers will take to the skies on Waltzing Matilda, Boomerang and Quokka as the airline revealed the names for its fleet of eight Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners. The public had the opportunity to vote on what they thought the final eight names should be and the votes are in. Australia Post, Qantas set to launch StarTrack’s domestic freighter network
Australia Post along with Qantas is set to launch a dedicated domestic freighter network for StarTrack, a subsidiary that provides e-commerce-driven, parcel delivery and supply chain solutions for local, international and online businesses. Qantas today announced its strongest profit since before the Global Financial Crisis and an order for eight B787-9 aircraft, to be delivered from calendar year 2017 to gradually replace five older B747s to start a "new era" for Qantas International. Qantas used the handover ceremony of its first A380 in Toulouse recently to announce that it is likely to add to the 20 of the type it already has on order. CEO Geoff Dixon and his successor, Alan Joyce, made clear that a new order is a virtual certainty, though Dixon qualified that any order would have to be within QF’s current A$35 billion ($27.9 billion) budget for capital spending on aircraft.
