Cathay Pacific resumes cargo service to Pittsburgh airport
Cathay Pacific has resumed cargo services to Pittsburgh Airport starting August 2, using its Boeing 777-300ER passenger planes converted for cargo, in partnership with US-based freight forwarder Unique Logistics. In September last year, the airline and forwarder started to PIT with 20 flights which ran for 12 weeks. This time the plan is to serve PIT until the end of the year, the airline noted. Cathay adds ‘preighter’ capacity for Asia, transpacific routes
Cathay Pacific Cargo is converting two more Boeing 777 passenger aircraft to carry cargo on the floor of the passenger cabins, which will bring the airline’s ‘preighter’ fleet to six. Hong Kong’s main airline is targeting net-zero carbon emissions by 2050 to help reduce the less than 3 percent of the world’s man-made carbon emissions produced by the aviation industry. Cathay takes record loss despite positive cargo revenue
Cathay Pacific Group highlighted the valiant effort of its cargo division in its 2020 annual results as its overall performance, particularly the passenger business, was severely hit, no thanks to the pandemic.
