WHO faces ‘outrageous’ air freight rates for vaccine-related shipments
The World Health Organisation’s logistics chief last week complained about “outrageous” airfreight charges for vaccine-related consignments as lack of capacity has driven prices up amidst the pre-holiday rush. IATA: Air cargo on recovery path, down 8 percent in September
Global cargo demand contracted 8 percent YoY (-9.9 percent for international operations) but grew 3.7 percent over the previous month in September, whilst global capacity shrank 25.2 percent YoY (28 percent for international operations), data from IATA showed. The shrink in capacity was three times larger than the contraction in demand, indicating a severe lack of capacity in the market, the trade group noted. Cold chain group, IATA agree on polishing pharma handling and transport standards
The Cool Chain Association (CCA) and the International Air Transport Association (IATA) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) supporting the drive for the safe, sustainable transport of perishables and pharmaceuticals. IATA’s Glyn Hughes to bid adieu to cargo head post in January
IATA confirmed that Glyn Hughes, head of cargo, will leave the organisation by end of January next year, as part of a restructuring process.
