Panalpina sees solid half-year results
International freight forwarding and logistics company Panalpina improved overall profitability in the first half of 2014 with group gross profit and EBIT, which were significantly impacted by currencies, both increased two per cent reaching CHF 777.9 million (US$862 million) and CHF 60.1 million respectively. Panalpina third quarter slides 40%
Basel-based freight forwarder, Panalpina said net profit for the three months was US$3.7 million, a 40 per cent slide in year-on-year revenue. Earnings before interest and tax fell to US$10.7 million in the three months to 30 September from $57.2 million a year ago and net forwarding revenue declined to $1.4 billion from $2.36 billion a year earlier.
