MG (NS) Lim Kim Choon will be appointed as director-general of the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) with effect from 1 July 2007. He will take over from Wong Woon Liong, who will be retiring from CAAS. Upon his retirement, Wong will join a soon to be created Changi Airport Advisory Group (CAAG), whose primary role is to support CAI in its overseas ventures.
Lim, currently the senior deputydirector general, joined CAAS on 2 May 2006 upon his retirement as the Chief of Air Force in early 2006. He served for over 30 years and rose to the position of Chief of Air Force in April 2001.
