We hear that American Airlines, which acquired the assets of Trans World Airlines (TWA) in 2001, is sending recall notices to 460 furloughed former TWA fl ight attendants to address current staffi ng needs.
The Dallas-Ft Worth-based carrier, which also has been bringing back pilots for the last 14 months, said that those fl ight attendants who accept the recall and meet all requirements will be eligible to return to service in either November or December 2007. The airline didn’t specify “all requirements”, but we reckon that age will not be an obstacle.
When your narrator worked for TWA in Paris in the mid-sixties, the average age of the female cabin crew was about 40, admittedly with a few exceptions, which would mean that American is recalling plenty of grannies.
