In a statement issued late last week, the group stated that EZ Post FZE had signed a joint venture agreement with Postaplus, said to be the first licensed private postal operator in the Middle East, to form EZ Post FZCO “in a step aimed at consolidating its various mail room operations”. It said EZ Post FZE and Postaplus would own 51 and 49 per cent of EZ Post FZCO’s shares, respectively.
“The company, operating from the Jebel Ali Free Zone (Jafza), will provide comprehensive mailroom services such as mail service, courier, mail room operations, sorting & storing, document scanning and verification and business centre solutions to all EZW group companies and their clients.”
“EZ Post is a strategic initiative designed to streamline our mail and postal services to achieve greater efficiency, better quality and lower cost,” said Salma Hareb, CEO of EZW.
Dubai World added that EZ Post FZCO would be accountable for all courier and postal requirements of EZW, its subsidiaries and their clients.
EZW is a global developer and operator of economic zones, business and logistics parks within the Dubai World group. Postaplus is a Kuwaiti Closed Shareholding Company (KCSC) established with paid-in capital of US$20 million and licensed to operate comprehensive postal services in Kuwait. Through establishing and acquiring independent operators, Postaplus now owns nine companies operating in six countries, with another three countries served through franchises.
