Airport ground and handling company, Swissport International has signed a cooperation agreement with Lufthansa Cargo to provide airfreight handling services for the partner airlines of the Lufthansa Cargo Group – including Jade Cargo – at Amsterdam Airport for the next three years. Swissport Cargo Services was selected following an extensive tender process, and should commence its new operations – including all of Lufthansa Cargo¡¯s airfreight and ramp handling needs – on 1 March. The annual throughput involved is expected to amount to some 60,000 tonnes, Lufthansa Cargo said. ¡°Professionals need professionals,” said Alexander Kohnen, regional manager Benelux for Lufthansa Cargo. “We are glad that we found an experienced and reliable partner for the air cargo handling business in Amsterdam. Together we want to grow continuously at Europe¡¯s third biggest cargo airport¡±, Swissport Cargo Services currently operates at 80 stations around the world, handling 3.5 million tonnes of airfreight a year for over 300 customers. Amsterdam has been a key Swissport location for three years now.
