Export cargo registered 36,093 tonnes, a decline of 3 per cent against same period last year. Import cargo volume for October was 14,930 tonnes, recording a decrease of 4 per cent from last year. Trans-shipment cargo volume was 357 tonnes, down 2 per cent. The cumulative tonnage throughput from January to October 2009 was 403,106 tonnes, representing a year-on-year decrease of 22.3 per cent.
Accumulated export cargo volume was 266,226 tonnes; down 24.4 per cent while import cargo volume was 132,834 tonnes, recording a decrease of 18.4 per cent. The total trans-shipment volume up to September 2009 was 4,046 tonnes, up 14 per cent against same period last year.
