Finnair Cargo and World Airways have formed a new partnership to launch a freighter service between New York, Helsinki and Shanghai. The new all-cargo, twice-weekly service will be operated by an MD11 freighter and will utilise World Airways’ traffic rights. “The new freighter services offer fast services between Northern Europe and Shanghai, and more capacity to New York is welcome,” said Finnair Cargo’s VP for Global Sales Pertti Mero. The new service follows its announced plans to become a minority shareholder in Nordic Global Airlines, a new all-cargo airline based in Helsinki, which is due to begin operations later this year.
