Expoline Animal, a specialist in live animal transportation, has successfully completed an import logistics project supporting the arrival of 35,000 Japanese sardines (Sardinops melanosticta) for exhibition at an aquarium in South Korea.
The project was carried out through three separate import operations between May 28 and June 26. The sardines arrived in Korea aboard a Japanese live fish transport truck that travelled by ferry before entering Busan Port.
Following the truck’s arrival in Korea, Expoline Animal managed the domestic import procedures and on-site operations required before the fish could be transferred to the aquarium. After completing quarantine inspection and customs clearance on the day of arrival, the sardines were safely moved into the aquarium’s main exhibition tank.
Expoline Animal’s responsibilities included handling bonded cargo release procedures for the Japanese live fish transport truck at Busan Port, escorting the vehicle during its journey from Busan to the aquarium, supervising unloading and weighing operations at the quarantine holding tank, submitting quarantine applications to the National Fishery Products Quality Management Service, and completing the import customs clearance process.
Unlike conventional cargo, the transportation of ornamental fish requires precise scheduling and seamless coordination among multiple organisations. Delays during quarantine inspections, customs clearance, or ground operations can directly affect the condition of live aquatic animals, making efficient logistics management essential.
Because the project involved a Japanese live fish transport truck entering Korea by ferry, every stage of the operation—from bonded cargo release and domestic transportation to quarantine procedures and customs clearance—had to be carefully coordinated. Expoline Animal ensured the smooth execution of each process through experienced on-site management and close communication with the relevant authorities.
With more than 20 years of experience in specialised animal logistics, Expoline Animal provided comprehensive support covering both documentation and field operations. The company focused on minimising handling time and streamlining each procedure to help maintain the condition of the fish throughout the import process.
An Expoline Animal representative said, “Importing ornamental fish requires specialised expertise in quarantine procedures, customs regulations, port operations, and live animal handling. Drawing on our extensive experience and operational know-how, we will continue to provide safe, efficient, and professional logistics solutions for specialised animals and aquatic species.”
Expoline Animal continues to expand its expertise through a wide range of domestic and international projects involving aquatic species, deer, birds, reptiles, Asiatic black bears, and other specialised animals.
