Malaysia’s Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) and Ministry of Transport (MoT) are working with freight industry to resolve issues over Malaysia Airlines Cargo’s (MASKargo) raising of its shipping and handling fees. The Airfreight Forwarders Association of Malaysia (AFAM) has complained to the government over MASKargo’s intention to raise its fees beginning 1 June. MITI secretary general Rebecca Fatima Sta Maria said she has written a letter to AFAM and requested that the Malaysia Competition Commission (MyCC) to investigate the fee increase in what is an unregulated sector.
