Qatar Airways Cargo is to begin a twice-weekly B777 freighter service from Doha via Luxembourg to Buenos Aires, Sao Paulo and Quito with a return via Miami. With the recent delivery of its 11th B777 freighter, the new operation will complement the airline’s daily bellyhold capacity to Sao Paulo, Buenos Aires and Miami.

The company said major commodities out of Sao Paulo, Buenos Aires and Quito would be fresh flowers, perishables and pharmaceuticals, while imports are expected to include medicines, automotive parts, chemical products, high tech and oil & gas equipment.

“These new destinations will connect the burgeoning import and export markets in the Americas region with the rest of the world,” said Qatar Airways chief officer cargo Ulrich Ogiermann. “Through our expertise in specialised solutions, namely QR Pharma for pharmaceuticals and QR Fresh for perishables, we are able to offer our customers a seamless and an unbroken cool chain for their temperature-sensitive products via our state-of-the-art fully automated hub in Doha,” he added.

The airline has also increased its A320 service to Tbilisi, Georgia to four flights a week as a complement to a daily flight that operates via Baku, Azerbaijan, and increased service to Yerevan, Armenia from four to five times a week. In 2017 the company will add Canberra, Dublin, Las Vegas, Rio de Janeiro and Santiago, Chile to its network.
