IAG Cargo and its long-haul, low-cost carrier LEVEL will restart the Barcelona–New York route for passengers and freight to allow trade and travel between North America and Europe, a press release confirmed.

The weekly Barcelona–New York flight will be rotated using LEVEL’s A330-200 aircraft, with the first plane departing Barcelona on 11 September and the second flight taking off JFK on 13 September.

Amidst the pandemic, IAG Cargo said it has established a network of over 340 scheduled cargo-only flights per week and has reconfigured aircraft to maximise cargo capacity.

In line with the reopening of LEVEL’s Barcelona route, IAG Cargo is offering members of its FORWARD.REWARDS loyalty programme the opportunity to earn double rewards points for cargo booked on the route between 28 August and 28 September.

Since March, the company’s sister airlines have transported more than 1,000 tonnes of protective equipment and medical supplier via charter and cargo-only flights on passenger aircraft. Iberia opened a Shanghai-Madrid corridor, whilst Aer Lingus is operating up to five daily flights from Beijing to Dublin in in a critical supply operation for the Irish Health Service.
