Singapore
On 10 September, Changi Airport Group (CAG) announced the stepping down of Mun Leong Liew as chairman and board director of the company with immediate effect. Mr Liew was the founding Chairman of CAG following the company’s formation in 2009.
Replacing him is Gee Paw Tan, who has been appointed to serve as acting chairman.
Mr Tan previously served as Chairman of the Public Utilities Board, Singapore’s national water agency, from April 2001 to March 2017. He has been on the CAG Board since May 2017.
Latin America
CEVA Logistics has officially opened its own offices in Ecuador and Uruguay, strengthening LATAM’s foothold in the region.
CEVA Logistics’ teams in Ecuador will continue to provide end-to-end solutions for the perishables, consumer and oil and gas sectors, with air, ocean and ground operations in Guayaquil and multimodal operations established in the capital Quito.
Meanwhile, CEVA Logistics’ operation in Uruguay will offer multimodal services and contract logistics for customers in the agriculture and livestock sector, with plans to penetrate the technological, industrial and healthcare sectors.
Brussels
Kuehne+Nagel has opened airside pharma and healthcare hubs in Brussels and Johannesburg, expanding its global GxP-certified network of temperature-controlled facilities for pharma distribution.
The new premises have dedicated areas for all ranges of temperature-sensitive products: <-20°C, +2° to +8°C and +15° to +25°C.
The Air Logistics hub, located in the centre of Brucargo at Brussels Airport, has 15,546 sqm of warehouse space and is connected to the Geel Contract Logistics pharma warehousing facility, as well as the pan-European KN PharmaChain Road Logistics Network managed from Luxembourg.
Meanwhile, the expanded airside facility at Johannesburg’s OR Tambo International Airport uses state-of-the-art KN PharmaChain cool dollies. The site offers temperature-sensitive cargo handling, consolidation and storage requirements and other logistics services before distribution in South Africa or into Africa.
Werne, Germany
Months after opening its latest multiuser warehouse in Werne, Germany, Imperial Logistics has expanded the facility’s capacity by 30 percent, with the leasing of an adjacent unit.
The additional space brings the total undercover storage area to almost 30,000 sqm. The extra warehousing will be part-racked for pallets, while some of the new floor space will be left open for handling and storing of outsize goods.
The facility now has a total of 25 truck doors, together with a large yard and parking area of 7,000 sqm. The complex also features container loading and unloading facilities, and incorporates a paperless order picking system.
