To support local manufacturers in Qatar, Qatar Airways Cargo, together with state bank QDB (Qatar Development Bank), is offering discounted rates to exporters who are current QDB clients and hold a certificate of origin for their products, to reach international markets.

The export products covered under this partnership include all types of general goods, except for dangerous goods.

The special discount is available to more than 350 exporters—mainly QDB clients—who wish to ship their locally made products on cargo flights. Local exporters can visit the QR Cargo sales office at the cargo terminal on weekdays or contact them via phone.

“We have a young and modern fleet of freighters, passenger freighters, mini freighters and belly-cargo planes to cater to their export requirements,” said Guillaume Halleux, Qatar Airways cargo chief, adding that the carrier also offers charter solutions with the option of utilising part or full charters.

Qatar Airways Cargo has been expanding its fleet and network strategically and investing in digitalisation to support its customers’ business. It joined CHAMP’s air cargo community to enhance its online bookings last year and went live on WebCargo in early February.

In January it took delivery of three B777 freighters for long-haul scheduled routes and cargo charters at a critical time to distribute the vaccines.

The cargo carrier recently reached its 10 million milestone for Covid-19 vaccines transported, including those to be distributed as part of its partnership with Unicef.

Since December last year, it has transported the life-saving shots to 20 countries, including Algeria, Cambodia, Denmark, Pakistan Rwanda, South Africa and The Netherlands.
