China Airlines has set its eyes on growing its cargo business as the airline ordered four more Boeing 777F long-haul freighters, with deliveries scheduled starting 2023 until 2024.
The Taiwanese carrier, which also has 18 747Fs, has already ordered six of the twin-engine Boeing cargo jets.Three have been delivered so far with two more slated for 2022 and one more lined-up in 2023.
Once these orders are completed, China Airline will grow its 777F fleet to 10 by 2024. The airline, which has also been carrying cargo on passenger flights, set new personal records in 2021, including sending out over a hundred cargo charter flights in a month, exceeding US$553.5 million in cargo revenues in December and surpassing US$3.59 billion in cargo revenue for the entire year. The best-ever year in Cargo’s 62-year history, the carrier described.

The airline said the long-haul cargo jet, with its fully temperature-controlled cargo hold, makes it suitable for trans-Pacific routes, having fewer restrictions on payload and enabling more efficient use of hold space.
“The main cargo hold can be fitted with cargo pallet restraint systems used for carrying semiconductor machinery and engines, providing high-value cargo such as precision instruments and temperature-controlled goods with optimal carriage services,” it noted.
