China Airlines bets on cargo with new B777F batch order
China Airlines has set its eyes on growing its cargo business as the airline ordered four more Boeing 777F long-haul freighters, with deliveries scheduled starting 2023 until 2024. The Taiwanese carrier, which also has 18 747Fs, has already ordered six of the twin-engine Boeing cargo jets.Three have been delivered so far with two more slated for 2022 and one more lined-up in 2023. HAECO ITM Limited announced today that the company has extended its long-standing agreement with China Airlines (CAL) to provide inventory technical management support for the airline’s expanding Boeing 777 fleet until 2029. Taiwan-based airlines saw cargo volumes soar in the double digits in March, even as passenger demand stayed weak. Taiwanese carriers reported a combined volume of 233,523 tonnes for the month, representing a 35 percent jump year-on-year. China Airlines has launched an ultra-low temperature delivery service down to the -80°C range as it aims to support the Covid-19 vaccine rollout as one of the top cargo airlines in the world.
