China Airlines is expanding its network to Europe as the carrier deployed its A350 aircraft on a new route connecting Taiwan to the Czech Republic.
The inaugural flight CI067 from Taipei to Prague route saw China Airlines President Kao Shing-Hwang arrive in Prague on 19 July after a non-stop service that lasted 13.5 hours. Prague Airport celebrated the arrival with the traditional water salute ceremony, which also marked the inauguration of the CI068 service on the return trip to Taiwan.
Kao said China Airlines is the only carrier to offer non-stop flights between Taiwan and the Czech Republic, and the new Prague route is expected to encourage bilateral business, trade and tourism. He also expects strong interest from Japan, Korea and Vietnam to make Taiwan a regional transit hub on the way to Europe.
China Airlines now operates two weekly flights on the Taipei-Prague route. With the new connection, the carrier now offers non-stop services to six European cities, including Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Vienna, London, Rome, and Prague. The airline is actively expanding its operations in Europe and has code sharing agreements in place with the likes of KLM, Air France, Air Europa, and Czech Airlines.
